The Bespoke Shirt Shirt Experience is an invitation to step into my studio and spend a day creating your own thoughtfully made shirt.
Together, we’ll work through the process of creating your own Hannah shirt, with gentle guidance and time to enjoy each stage. I’ll share insights from my own practice, alongside techniques to help you build confidence as you go.
This calm, hands-on day designed to connect you with making, and to leave you with something truly personal to wear again and again.

With a maximum of just two people per workshop, there’s plenty of time for individual guidance, questions and support throughout the day.
Your own Hannah Shirt
One of my most popular designs, the Hannah Shirt is a relaxed, slip-on style with a softly structured shape. You’ll create your own version in a fabric of your choice.
A personalised, reusable pattern
I’ll take your measurements in advance and prepare your pattern to achieve the best fit for the relaxed silhouette of the Hannah Shirt. You’ll take your pattern home with you, ready to make the shirt again.
Your Hannah Shirt Handbook
You’ll receive a beautifully presented guide containing the instructions and guidance you’ll need to make your shirt again at home.
Guidance on choosing your fabric
You’ll bring your own chosen fabric. Before the workshop, I’ll share guidance on suitable fabrics and where to source them, so you can arrive with everything you need.
Full use of the studio
All sewing equipment, tools and other materials needed throughout the day are provided.
Lunch at Depot
We’ll take a relaxed break from the sewing with lunch from Depot, a much-loved local independent bakery.
Tea, coffee and biscuits
Available throughout the day.
Free parking
There is free off road parking available at the studio.
THE SHIRT:
The Hannah shirt designed to feel both effortless and considered, with a relaxed, slip-on silhouette and a softly structured shape. A sculpted collar frames the neckline, leading into a clean, open front that gives the piece its ease and versatility.
The Hannah Shirt is one of my most popular designs, and I’m delighted to offer the opportunity to create your own version with near one-to-one guidance.
Personalise your shirt with your choice of fabric and refining design details, ensuring your shirt is truly distinctive. Guidance will be provided in advance on suitable fabrics and where to source them, ensuring the best result on the day.
You'll be using industrial sewing machines and finishing your garment to high professional standard.
Ahead of the workshop, I’ll ask for your measurements to prepare your pattern in advance, so you can focus on making a shirt that fits beautifully while maintaining its relaxed form.
There is a wide range of quality colour threads available to use at the studio to match or contrast your chosen fabric.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE DAY
This isn’t a large group sewing class.
With just two people per workshop, the day is deliberately small and personal. You’ll have the space to ask questions, take your time and receive guidance at each stage, whether you’re already comfortable behind a sewing machine or looking to develop aa new skill.
I’ll share the techniques and knowledge that sit behind my own approach to design and garment making, while giving you the freedom to work through the process yourself.
My hope is that you leave not only with a beautifully made shirt, but with the confidence and knowledge to keep making.
WHAT TO BRING
Your chosen fabric
I’ll provide guidance before the workshop on the most suitable fabric for the Hannah Shirt, including what to look for and where you can source it.
Everything else is provided.
You don’t need to bring your own sewing machine, equipment or pattern.
If you would like to bring your own domestic machine, you are more than welcome to, please let me know in advance.
ABOUT HARRIET
I’m Harriet Eccleston, a Sheffield-based fashion designer creating responsibly crafted womenswear from my studio in the city.
My work is rooted in thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship and making garments that are designed to be worn and cherished for years to come. I design, pattern cut and make my collections here in Sheffield, working with carefully considered fabrics and a made to order approach to production.
Over the years, my work has been recognised through awards and international opportunities, and has been featured in publications including Vogue, Grazia and The Sunday Times Style.
The workshop is an opportunity to share some of the knowledge and practices behind my own work, in a relaxed and accessible setting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I have never sewn before, can I be part of the workshop?
Absolutely!
There will be three students per class, this will give me plenty of time to give you my full attention and guide you through the process to create a beautiful shirt. Hopefully by the end of the day you will have the skills and confidence to go on and keep sewing!
What do I need to bring
1.5m of fabric (go for 2m if your clothe is narrower (1m wide))
Upon booking, I will email you more details including my favourite places to buy fabric from and which weights, composition I recommend. If you have some fabric that you have been waiting to use, this might be it!
I understand that you might have a trusted pair of fabric scissors, snip and/ or tape measure, please feel free to bring these with you. If not, I have everything that you need to create your garment or carry out your alteration.
Where is the workshop?
The workshop will take place at my studio;

Is there parking?
Yes, there is off road parking in the courtyard at Albyn Works.
How long is the day?
We will meet at 9am and finish around 6pm.
There will be a break for lunch and plenty of opportunities for tea, coffee and biscuits!
Is lunch included?
You will head to Depot Bakery (a brilliant independent bakery which I love to visit) just over the road from the studio. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch and hot drink up to the cost of £12pp.
They do a brilliant selection of food catering to most dietary requirements.
I’d like to come as a group of friends, is this possible?
Yes, although there are typically only two spaces per group, please email me and we can arrange an alternative date if the workshop is already booked or there is a different number of possible participants.
